Project: BeeBench
Author: Christian Bolognini and Samantha Culicchi
This project reimagines the typical urban planter as a micro-habitat for pollinators, a circular design object, and a tool for public engagement.
While aesthetically pleasing and contextualized in Milan’s urban fabric, BeeBench is primarily ecological in function.
It enhances biodiversity by supporting pollinators; contributes to climate mitigation through circular material reuse and low-impact construction; and supports sustainable living by engaging artisans, makers, and citizens in both the production and ownership of the solution.
Through its hybrid character — at once furniture, infrastructure, and ecological intervention — BeeBench demonstrates how small-scale, modular actions can bring nature back into urban rhythms.
