PPT Ping Pong Table

PPT is conceived as more than a piece of urban furniture. It represents an opportunity for Milan to rediscover and reclaim its public spaces—echoing a time when neighbourhood life extended into
streets, courtyards, and shared outdoor spaces.

By acting as a catalyst for interaction, PPT encourages moments of encounter and exchange among people of different ages and backgrounds. As a timeless symbol of conviviality, the table moves beyond the private realm to re-enter public life, becoming a simple yet powerful tool for urban regeneration.

The final PPT design measures 137 × 151 cm with a 75 cm height and features a 5 cm thick tabletop made of recycled fibre-reinforced plastic (rFRP). The tabletop combines a smooth upper playing

surface and a coffered underside, supported by four galvanized steel legs for durability in public spaces.

Its production involves layered casting with different fiberglass types, creating both refined and textured surfaces, while experiments with glass microspheres aim to reduce weight without compromising strength. Additional testing focuses on material performance, pigmentation, and fabrication using 3D-printed molds to form the coffered structure.
