YouRban Festival in Vienna from 7 to 9 May, 2026

YouRban Future Lab: Shaping Circularity | Karlsplatz Vienna

After Milan and Barcelona, the open learning and experience zone dedicated to circular economy and polymer recycling came to Vienna from 7–9 May, 2026 at Karlsplatz | Ressel Monument. Featuring a mobile recycling unit, a diverse educational programme, workshops, and hands-on stations.
YouRban is part of the New European Bauhaus initiative and a contribution to the Climate Bienniale Vienna 2026.

Following previous editions in Milan and Barcelona, the Vienna event continued the YouRban mission of connecting sustainability, design, and public participation through hands-on experiences and collaborative activities.

The Future Lab invited visitors to explore how industrial GFRP materials can be reimagined through circular design approaches and urban innovation. Through workshops, guided tours, discussions, and interactive demonstrations, participants engaged directly with concepts of reuse, material transformation, and sustainable urban futures.

The event welcomed designers, researchers, artists, families, children, local communities, and project partners, creating an open and inclusive environment for dialogue and experimentation. The active participation of visitors helped transform Karlsplatz into a temporary laboratory for circular thinking and creative collaboration.

The Vienna edition further demonstrated how the principles of the New European Bauhaus can be translated into tangible public experiences that combine aesthetics, sustainability, and social inclusion.
